Frequently asked questions.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply need someone to walk alongside you as you face life’s challenges, therapy provides a compassionate and supportive space. You don’t have to be in crisis to reach out—therapy is here for anyone seeking healing, growth, and a clearer understanding of themselves and their path forward.
What is therapy and how does it work?
Therapy is a confidential and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in collaboration with a trained professional. Together, we work to clarify your goals, identify patterns that may be impacting your well-being, and develop practical tools to help you navigate life’s challenges with greater awareness and resilience.
What can I expect during my first session?
Your first session will be an opportunity for your clinician to learn more about you—your background, current concerns, and what has brought you to therapy. We will also begin to explore your goals and hopes for the process. This initial meeting allows us to determine whether we are a good fit to work together, and you are welcome to ask any questions you may have at any point.
How long is each therapy session?
Sessions typically last between 45 and 60 minutes, unless otherwise discussed. Depending on your needs, we may agree to adjust the length of sessions accordingly. The frequency of sessions can vary—some clients attend weekly, while others may choose biweekly or another arrangement that suits their goals and circumstances/clinician’s availability.
If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, I kindly ask for at least 48 hours’ notice. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice will be subject to a cancellation fee.

Do you accept insurance or offer sliding scale fees?
We do offer sliding scale options to accommodate different financial situations. For detailed information about fees, accepted insurance plans, and payment methods, please visit the Payment and Insurance section on our website or contact us directly. We are happy to assist you with any questions you may have.
Can I do therapy virtually?
Yes, we do offer teletherapy through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform for those who prefer or need to connect remotely. This option makes it easier for you to access support in a way that feels comfortable and convenient.
To get started, simply reach out to schedule your session, and we’ll guide you through the process. Before your appointment, it can be helpful to find a quiet, private space where you feel safe and won’t be interrupted, so you can fully engage in our time together.
Is online therapy as effective as in-person sessions?
For many individuals, yes—online therapy can be just as effective as in-person sessions. It offers increased flexibility and accessibility, allowing clients to attend from the comfort of their own space. This can be especially helpful for those with busy schedules, transportation challenges, or who live in remote areas. When clients feel safe and at ease in their environment, they often find it easier to open up and engage meaningfully in the therapeutic process.
Research supports the effectiveness of teletherapy in addressing a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, life transitions, stress, and relationship issues.
To help you get the most out of online therapy, it’s important to find a quiet, private space where you feel comfortable and won’t be interrupted. Using headphones can enhance privacy, and ensuring a reliable internet connection helps sessions run smoothly. We use a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform to protect your confidentiality, just as we would in a traditional in-person setting.
If you have questions or concerns about the technology or setting up your space, we’re here to help you feel prepared and supported.
How do I schedule or cancel an appointment?
You can schedule or cancel your appointments by reaching out to our office directly—either by completing the contact form, calling the phone number listed, scheduling through this website, or contacting your clinician directly. We kindly request at least 48 hours’ notice for cancellations to help avoid any late cancellation fees and to offer the time to others who may need it.
If you need to reschedule, please contact us as soon as possible, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
Will everything that I share during a session remain confidential?
Please know that therapy is a confidential space, and your privacy is deeply respected. However, there are a few important exceptions. As licensed mental health professionals and mandated reporters, we are legally required to break confidentiality if we believe there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or others, or in cases of suspected abuse or neglect involving children, elders, or dependent adults. These exceptions are in place to protect safety and well-being.
What are the current office hours?
Our office hours are 9am-9pm Monday-Saturday, and during these times, we strive to respond promptly to your inquiries. In the event of an emergency or crisis outside of session hours, please contact local emergency services such as “911” or visit the nearest emergency room, as immediate assistance may not be available through our office.
What forms of payment are accepted?
We accept a variety of payment methods, including insurance plans, PayPal, Health Savings Account (HSA) cards, and all major credit cards.
Am I obligated to schedule through Zocdoc, or can I book my appointment directly through your website using Acuity?
We kindly encourage all clients to schedule directly through Acuity, whether you are using insurance or self-pay. If you are a self-pay client or prefer to pay with PayPal, including PayPal Pay in 4, Acuity offers the most flexible and convenient booking experience.
If you already have a Zocdoc profile and prefer that platform—particularly for insurance-based appointments—you are still welcome to book through Zocdoc.
Our goal is to make scheduling simple and accessible, and we’re here to support you in choosing the option that works best for you.
Do you offer consultations?
Yes, we do offer consultations. A consultation is a helpful opportunity to ask questions, learn more about the therapeutic process, and determine whether we’re a good fit to work together. These brief, no-obligation conversations can take place by phone or video and are designed to help you feel more comfortable before beginning therapy.
Whether you're exploring therapy for the first time or returning after a break, we’re here to support you in taking that first step. To schedule a consultation, please contact our office using the contact form or use the scheduling feature on our website.

How do I prepare for therapy?
Preparing for therapy is a personal process, and there’s no “right” way to do it. Here are a few suggestions that might help you feel more comfortable and get the most out of your sessions:
We kindly ask that you complete all intake forms before your first session and activate your Simple Practice account. Should you need any assistance with this process, please do not hesitate to contact our office by phone. We are here to support you and ensure a smooth start to your therapy journey.
Reflect on what brought you to therapy and what you hope to achieve. This could be specific challenges, feelings, or goals.
Find a quiet, private space where you feel safe and won’t be interrupted during your sessions, especially for virtual therapy.
Be open and honest—therapy works best when you feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and feelings.
Give yourself permission to take your time. Progress in therapy can be gradual, and it’s okay to move at your own pace.
Prepare any questions or topics you’d like to discuss to help guide your sessions.
Remember, therapy is a collaborative journey. Your therapist is there to support and guide you, but your input and comfort are key.
